Christmas Day, Lake Style

Trevor's grandmother lives on a lake and we always love visiting her. There's always something new to laugh at and old memories to cry about. This Christmas was the first one without Trevor's grandfather. It was a hard and sad one, but we all put on a smile and pushed through it.

Trevor and his mom decided to be a little goofy and pose how I do (always with a hand on the hip). It was a rocky day, but we were happy at the end, happy enough to take some pictures. It was a beautiful day!

I was worried about Trevor's new shirt because it's an XXL and he can either do XXL or XL. When I bought it for him for Christmas I was praying that it would work. Thank goodness it fit! The other shirt I bought, however, was way too big. I guess we'll have to exchange!

My outfit was part of the last minute outfit shopping I did on Christmas Eve.

Skirt : Charlotte Russe ($10)
Tank : Walmart ($3)
Cardgan : Christmas present!
Shoes : Kohl's

Trevor's outfit:
Jeans : Old Navy ($22)
Flannel Shirt : Chaps, Kohl's
Shoes : Converse

I recently cut my hair (like 2ish weeks ago) and I started curling it with my mini straightener. I think I love it! I like having curly/wavy hair better than straight hair, mainly because if it's a little messy, it's okay!

I did my normal makeup routine and left my lips bare, except for the occasional swipe of EOS lemon drop.

Foundation : Ulta Double Duty in Light Ivory
Pressed Powder : Physician's Formula Cover ToxTen in Translucent Fair
Blush : CoverGirl Instang Cheek Bones in Contouring Blush
Eyeshadow : Ulta Extreme Wear whipped eyeshadow in Strawberry Cream
: light gold eyeshadow on top of the cream shadow
Mascara : Ulta Plush Drama Volume Mascara in Jet Black

When I came home after being at the lake my Mom had a huge dinner made. My parent's two friends came over for a taste of Lithuanian for a second night in a row. While they ate in the dining room, the "kids" ate in at the kitchen table. (The "kids" include me (20), my 18 year old brother and his room mate from Taiwan, and my fiance (21).)

This dessert is called a Napoleon and is, of course, Lithuanian. My Mom spent all day making it. I think she said it's 12 layers and has a sweet custard and apricot jam in between the layers. It was so good! I had not eaten it since I was very young. Since before my grandfather died, and that was when I was in the 5th grade. My grandmother stopped making it when he died.

Trevor made baklava for the first time ever. It was amazing and he did such a good job. His grandmother thought that the filo dough was paper. She wouldn't believe us, even after we ate it in front of her. Then at the end of the day she forgot that she didn't like it, and she took some to eat for later. She's the craziest.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas like I did! Happy New Year!

Christmas Eve, Lithuanian Style

My family celebrates Christmas Eve together instead of Christmas Day. It's been our tradition since my Dad was a kid and when my grandparents were kids. Probably even before that. Every year my Mom cooks a huge dinner and we eat before we go to midnight mass at church. Every year it's pretty much the same dinner: 11 fish dishes. It's a Lithuanian thing, if you're wondering why so much fish. For me however, I can't eat fish. I'm allergic to seafood and I don't eat fish. Instead, I ate keish and potatoes (as seen in this photo). It was still delish!

My Christmas Eve look came with some last minute skirt shopping that day and doing my nails right before dinner. And of course I added a bright red lip.

My fiance was in charge of getting all the presents from under the tree. Surprisingly he was excited to crawl on his belly and get them all! He's just the best, don't cha think?

I have a love for elephants, there is no denying it. I have counted that I have roughly 52 elephants in my room, not including clothes, jewelry, shoes and accessories. These lovely elephant slippers have now been added to my collection. Thanks, Mom!

For my Christmas Eve nails I used some magnetix my sorority sister gave me, but I didn't use it in the magnetic way. I also made my own diamond specs by my cuticle with a Sally Hansen silver polish. I've had it forever and it's still kickin'!

These next few photos are of my *family and I and of course me showing off my outfit. I was so proud of myself that I found the skirt on the day of. And it was only $10! (So I bought four of them.)

*My Dad is not pictured because he was not fully dressed yet.

And to end this post, this is me in my outfit.

Long sleeve deep green shirt (underneath jacket) : Old Navy ($5)
Skirt : Charlotte Russe ($10)
Jacket : Old Navy
Heels (simple black heels) : Shoe Carnival
Necklace (Christmas Eve present) : Simply Vera, Kohl's
Tights : I've had them for so long!

A little bit of Spring in December

So, Christmas starts tomorrow for my family and I, but today it feels like Spring is starting. Southern weather is the weirdest thing.

I have to work today at 1 and I didn't want to wear a sweater because I was burning up in one just standing in my room. Instead, I grabbed one of my favorite dresses from Old Navy and a cardigan. The cardigan is really only there for comfort and to make it look a little more Wintery. If you've zoomed in on the picture to look at my feet, you're probably wondering, "What the heck are those shoes?" These are my work shoes. I only wear them for work because my feet constantly hurt and these shoes make it so they don't. (Yes, I know they are slightly unattractive, but they work.)
I haven't curled my hair since I cut it about two weeks ago. I was waiting to get a mini curling wand for Christmas before I tried curling, but I couldn't wait. I did my hair with a Conair small straightener. It actually turned out better than I had hoped, although it did take me about forty-five minutes to do it. My makeup however was a lot quicker to do, probably because I've kinda "mastered" the art of putting gunk on my face. Practice makes perfect! My eyes and lips I think helped show that I'm still in December like everyone else, even though I'm wearing a Spring outfit.
So here's my curls, some of my fish hair clip, and my boobs in your face. Hope y'all enjoy today and are super excited for Christmas tomorrow! I know I am!
