iPhone Diaries, 2

So I haven't been on here in a while, which I'm deeply sorry about. I've been so busy with work, school and now an internship. The only day I had off was yesterday and I didn't really have it off. Since I haven't had a chance to do anything exciting, I decided to share pictures from the past couple of weeks from my iPhone. I'm at my internship now with nothing to do, so I'm writing for y'all's enjoyment!

1 : Homecoming was two weeks ago and my sorority participated in the parade. This is my outfit! I cut these high waisted shorts to wear in November, but they were a little too tight then. However, two weeks ago they were good enough to wear and not explode out of!

2 : These are the "Shay's" in my sorority. (From left to right) Shay, Shai and Shana (me).

3 : Parading through campus!

4 : I made a wood sculpture for my 3D class. Gorgeous, right?

5 : I had an interview for my internship last Thursday and this is what I finally decided to wear after trying on BUNCHES of clothes. I got the internship (obviously)!

6 : Trev's fraternity had a Pirate Party last Thursday which meant we all dressed like pirates/in pirate colors and partied it up! (I got my pirate dress from Salvation Army. I'm so lucky I found it!)

7 : My little diamond Shai and I!

8 : Last Friday my professors took some students and I to the South Carolina State Museum. We tried to get high schoolers to consider going to our university because our art department is so awesome! Then, we got a tour of where they store the artwork for the new level of the museum which is dedicated to art. (This is a Jasper Johns. Everyone was freaking out when he pulled it out.)

9 : I wanted to take a photo of what the space looked like inside. I loved the two paintings that you can see clearly here and I wish I knew who the artist was. If you know, please tell me! On the left side (what you can't see) is a wall filing system for the art.

10 : Shai and I discovered these amazing things.

11 : My internship!

iPhone Diaries

So I said that I would probably post my iPhone photos from our trip to Charlotte. I can't believe that at this exact time last week we were in our hotel room. Me eating chocolate cake and ice cream, Trevor studying for GMAT. I decided that after a week of no blogs and looking at other bloggers' blogs that I should write. I took my Canon on this trip, but I was kinda scared to take it places because I didn't want anything to happen to it. Instead, I took pictures with my iPhone, which I always do. I have soooo many pictures on my laptop from my phone, it's crazy.

Here's a little play-by-play of our trip. (I'm kind of reminiscing with this post because I wish I was back.)

First on the list: I took a selfie while waiting for Trevor to come home so we could LEAVE!

2 : We made it to Charlotte! We had dinner at an awesome wine bar place, stopped at Harris Teeter for some not so great dessert, and started to relax in the hotel room.

3 : The next morning we woke up around 6 and got ready to bring Trev to his exam. After dropping him off, I took my cute flamingo T-shirt self to Goodwill. Luckily for me it was not even half a mile from the hotel.

4 : I just had to take a thrifting mirror picture of my outfit! The clothes in the photo are No's, by the way.

5 : This was from my second time in the dressing room. Yes, I took the shopping cart in with me. Yes, I'm wearing a hideous oversized sweater dress. I thought it might have potential, but it was more like a tent. (I really wanted those floral pants, but the problem with having curves is that not everything fits.)

6 : I passed up on these canisters. Two big ones and a small one (not pictured) with mushrooms on it. I wanted them and they were only $4, but I could hear my Dad's voice saying, "You bought more stuff?!"

7 : Next, I picked Trev up from his exam after 3.5 hours. We went to Cowfish for lunch and it was awesome!

8 : Trevor was open to doing anything I wanted to do, so of course we went to an antique mall. The name of it is Sleepy Poet and it was pretty nice and large!

I passed up this mushroom wall hanging, but it's okay. I got over it.

SWEATERS GALORE! Too bad it's in the mid 70's here now.

9 : One of the most awesome things about this antique mall is the fact that Kitsch-y-Cool Vintage is in the store! There was also another consignment shop that I bought a romper at for $4. Here's a sneak peak of  the store. Brace yourself, it's amazing.

10 : After the antique mall, we drove around Charlotte to find a Caribou Coffee and then go home. I loved the streets of the suburbs more than I thought I would. There were some cute houses, such as this one!

11: Lastly, we got Caribou Coffee and headed home.

Queen City lovin'

VALENTINE'S WEEKEND
CHARLOTTE, NC

Trevor and I went to Charlotte Friday and today because he had to take the GMAT for grad school. We decided to stay over Friday night so we wouldn't have to wake up super early to drive. Charlotte is about 2.5 hours away from where we live. He made reservations for Friday at a cafe, but on the way to dinner/Charlotte I decided I wanted Italian. Of course, being Valentine's, all the Italian restaurants were completely booked. We ended up going to this wine bar kind of place and they served small dinner portions. It was so good! Choosing the restaurant on a whim was probably the best spur of the moment decision we've made. It was still a little pricey, but the food was what they called "farm to fork" (aka: fresh) and was just the right portion for me. I haven't been all that hungry lately so I try to eat less when I'm having a meal.

We wanted to go to a 24 hour dessert bar after dinner but we decided not to. We just got a slice of cake and a mini Ben & Jerry's ice cream from Harris Teeter. I pretty much ate it all while Trev studied some more for his exam. We went to bed around 12:30, which was later than I wanted but oh well.

This morning was all about getting him to his exam on time at 7:30 and one I did that, I went to Goodwill. My $54 worth of clothes are in the washing machine right now, but once they are clean I will probably do a post on what I purchased. I was in Goodwill for about 2 hours and then I had to pick him up. We were so hungry when he was done and we wanted to see more of Charlotte, so we went to the South Park area. There was an awesome burger/sushi place called Cowfish and oh my gosh it was amazing! If you are in Charlotte or Raleigh, you MUST go. They combine sushi and burgers together in a really cool way. I am allergic to seafood so I passed on the sushi, but my burger, sweet potato fries and edamame was AMAZING.

We were so tired after having a big meal, but we kept on going. I wanted to go vintage shopping which made us end up at an antique mall with a vintage shop and consignment shop inside. The vintage shop was called Kitsch-y-cool Vintage and I was in heaven! I only took pictures with my iPhone, which I might incorporate into another post. I wanted to try on everything, but again, we were so tired. Thus, our next stop: was Caribou Coffee. If you haven't been to one, GO! It was Trev's first time and he really liked it. He even said it's above Starbucks. After coffee, we drove home.

And now we're home and I'm blogging.

That was a lot. Geez. One last thing, though. All these photos are of the outfit I wore for our Valentine's dinner in Charlotte. I haven't worn the dress too much or the cardigan, but I thought they went together well. The shoes are new from a consignment shop that just opened here. I have wanted oxfords for a long time and I got them for $16!

Beauts.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Today is all about loving one another and I usually love today. This Valentine's is no exception. Trevor and I are going to Charlotte, NC this evening when he gets home from work. He has to take the GMAT tomorrow bright and early so we're staying the night in Charlotte and taking advance of the fact that his test falls on VDay. I told him to make reservations somewhere and he chose a place called Terrace Cafe. It seems nice, not too fancy and not too expensive. I'm excited about tonight, but I'm worried for tomorrow. This exam determines if he gets into grad school or not. If he does a good job on it, then we'll be fine. If not, I'm not sure what will happen. Trev's been studying, though, so I think he knows what he signed up for.

Anyway, back to lovey-dovey Valentine's stuff. I got these two vintage postcards when I went to Columbia with my family to see my brother for his birthday about a month ago. I've always wanted cute vintage post cards and I scored with these two. And they fit perfectly with Valentine's!

I did my nails yesterday for our trip and I realized that I haven't done my nails in forever! I usually give myself a full manicure because I have almost all the tools to do so and I don't like to do my nails unless they are good looking. (Good looking = cuticles clean & trimmed, shaped nails, etc.) I used to do my nails every week and lately I've just been slacking. We've had three days off from school because of winter weather which was a perfect opportunity to do my nails.

I've been so lazy.

Yes, I definitely been lazy, slack, a terrible blogger & whatever else you want to call me. I decided last week (even though I was too lazy to post anything) that I was going to dress cute everyday for 5 days of school. I guess this is my version of outfit of the week. Friday was the hardest day for me. I had all of my outfits planned out except for Friday and when I woke up I really didn't want to put any effort into my look. This week of cute looks also fell on my period, so Friday was definitely not a good day, as it's one of the worst days on every period.

Along with womanly blues on Friday, for some reason the day was just not good, as you can probably read from my photos. I was just so frustrated that day. It seemed like everything that happened made me mad. People that I've never met made me mad, drivers made me mad, my family, etc. But then I went to a party that night and everything was better!
