VALENTINE'S WEEKEND
CHARLOTTE, NC
Trevor and I went to Charlotte Friday and today because he had to take the GMAT for grad school. We decided to stay over Friday night so we wouldn't have to wake up super early to drive. Charlotte is about 2.5 hours away from where we live. He made reservations for Friday at a cafe, but on the way to dinner/Charlotte I decided I wanted Italian. Of course, being Valentine's, all the Italian restaurants were completely booked. We ended up going to this wine bar kind of place and they served small dinner portions. It was so good! Choosing the restaurant on a whim was probably the best spur of the moment decision we've made. It was still a little pricey, but the food was what they called "farm to fork" (aka: fresh) and was just the right portion for me. I haven't been all that hungry lately so I try to eat less when I'm having a meal.
We wanted to go to a 24 hour dessert bar after dinner but we decided not to. We just got a slice of cake and a mini Ben & Jerry's ice cream from Harris Teeter. I pretty much ate it all while Trev studied some more for his exam. We went to bed around 12:30, which was later than I wanted but oh well.
This morning was all about getting him to his exam on time at 7:30 and one I did that, I went to Goodwill. My $54 worth of clothes are in the washing machine right now, but once they are clean I will probably do a post on what I purchased. I was in Goodwill for about 2 hours and then I had to pick him up. We were so hungry when he was done and we wanted to see more of Charlotte, so we went to the South Park area. There was an awesome burger/sushi place called Cowfish and oh my gosh it was amazing! If you are in Charlotte or Raleigh, you MUST go. They combine sushi and burgers together in a really cool way. I am allergic to seafood so I passed on the sushi, but my burger, sweet potato fries and edamame was AMAZING.
We were so tired after having a big meal, but we kept on going. I wanted to go vintage shopping which made us end up at an antique mall with a vintage shop and consignment shop inside. The vintage shop was called Kitsch-y-cool Vintage and I was in heaven! I only took pictures with my iPhone, which I might incorporate into another post. I wanted to try on everything, but again, we were so tired. Thus, our next stop: was Caribou Coffee. If you haven't been to one, GO! It was Trev's first time and he really liked it. He even said it's above Starbucks. After coffee, we drove home.
And now we're home and I'm blogging.
That was a lot. Geez. One last thing, though. All these photos are of the outfit I wore for our Valentine's dinner in Charlotte. I haven't worn the dress too much or the cardigan, but I thought they went together well. The shoes are new from a consignment shop that just opened here. I have wanted oxfords for a long time and I got them for $16!
